Tough time deciding if I want to enroll at a school (need advice)

Hello,

I'm posting this here because I know it is an active board and I am in need of advice

I recently got admitted by alternate choice, and was put in BS:ACE-Consumer Economics & Finance at U of I - Champaign.

My problem is that I ultimately would like to be an accountant and earn a CPA, which would require me to switch into the business school.

My question is, is switching majors doable? I guess a better question is, would it be reasonable for me to infer that I could obtain a 3.5+ my first year coming out of a competitive high school from the north shore of Chicago?

Any responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You might have better luck on the Univ of Ill - Champaign board. Difficulty of switching majors/schools varies widely between universities.

Sorry!

150 years ago when I was an undergraduate, I transferred from my University’s College of Arts & Sciences into their Engineering School. Wasn’t hard at all, although it did cost me a year (to make up all the required core courses).

Can you take a summer school class to get a jump start on your new major?
