I'm entering Sophomore year at Michigan and I'm wondering how tough this is gonna' be. I finished my freshman year (AFROTC cadet but dropped this summer) with a 3.54 and declared CSE. Here's my schedule..

I'm also gonna' be working 15-25 hours a week. Do you think it will be tough to handle all this plus raise my GPA to a 3.6? I was talking to some kids, and it seems like Arabic is pretty much a guaranteed A to A-..

15-25 hrs a week seems like a pretty big workload. It might be tough to study with work always cutting in. EECS isn’t too hard (so Ive heard) and math 215 is a terrible class. So…it’s certainly possible.

By itself, this shouldn’t be a problem. If you work at it, you can get a 4.0 in the technical classes. 215 is a fairly easy course, although I don’t know your math background. 203 can be very easy or quite difficult, again, depending on your background and if you’ve seen some of the stuff before. 280 is also not particularly hard, but you’ll be competing with people who probably have done a lot of the stuff in the class before. Thus getting an A is hard, but getting a B or a B+ is pretty easy.

If you have to also work 15-25 hrs a week, you’ll have to be efficient, or else you’ll be in class/studying/working 100% of the time. But if you are efficient, and leaning closer to the 15 rather than the 25 hours of work, you should be fine.

Well I finished Math 116 with an A and Engr 101 with an A- so I don’t know how well that relates to those classes. I’m guessing most of my hours for work will be during the weekends.
