There's a million opinions on this, but I know Princeton is the hardest Ivy to get into. Harvard has the rep...as does Yale...but Princeton is on top these days. The Ivy's own online community, OneIvy.com (www.oneivy.com), has a "toughest Ivy poll" going and Princeton's on top. What do you guys think?

I would've thought Yale (at least by their EA/Princeton ED ratios)

Yeah, me too. Princeton's hard, but I wouldn't say it's the hardest. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part...

Thanks for the link, btw. I registered, so we'll see what this does...

I would not jump to the notation that oneivy is the Ivy's own online community. Being a Penn student, I can almost guarantee that oneivy is not a very representative website for the Ivy population (the Penn portion at least).

My daughter, three years ago, got into Harvard Early Action and was accepted at Yale (and went there) but got turned down at Brown.

I always thought that Harvard and Yale were harder, but like philntex, maybe that's just my wishing...

Yale is statistically the hardest one to get into, but Princeton is better. :-)

Every review I've read says that Princeton is the hardest...which makes sense seeing that it's also one of the smallest.

That's whay I need people to evaluate my chances!
ZZ3

P.S. My board is in the "Princeton" and "What are my chances?" forums

All people can tell you is, "your chances look pretty good to me...I hope I see you there."

w/e, it gives me a fake sense of confidence.

ZZ3

I dont know how far its true...but i hear Yale is harder to get into cos they give more importance to legacy than princeton...so the proportion of seats available for non-legacy students is less...what do you think?

for what is's worth on the legacy issue, I have a nephew who got in to Yale who is a legacy and a niece who did not who was not (legacy). She probably had better stats than her cousin but applied EA in 2003, which seemed to be a killer year with huge increase in EA apps. It also is about far more than the stats and I am not sure this was ever comprehended. I think all of these elite schools weigh legacy a lot. I am actually kind of proud that my own D. opted to go where legacy was not an issue, choosing instead the LAC that was a good fit for her as the individual she is.

i would think harvard b/c everyone's like "omg! harvard!" and then they apply "just to see if i can get in"...u know?...even people across the world (wherever you live)...just mho, though

harvard may top princeton in applicants to acceptance by a slim margin, but my guess is that princeton is on the rise. harvard has great grad schools but pales to princeton's undergrad offerings imho..
