I am in the Chicago area today and tomorrow touring NU. What else do you recommend for me to do down in the city?

The correct answer depends on where you are staying - Evanston area or dowtown Chicago - and how comfortable you are taking public transport or if you have a car.

Definitely the above is correct. There’s all sorts of fun things. My one recommendation regardless: Have lunch at Bat 17 in Evanston. It was and is my favorite restaurant and bar, and will forever be one of my fondest memories.

I personally liked the Tyler Durden and the Clark Griswold.

Thanks! We will check it out- and primarily downtown Chicago

In Chicago: go to Wrigleyville. Have deep-dish pizza from Due (my favorite. Uno and the original Gino’s East (near NU’s medical school) are also good). Go to Millenium Park and see the bean. Go to the Art Institute. Go get all you can eat sushi at Shiroi Hana in Belmont [– Shiroi hana Japanese Restaurant --](http://www.shiroihanachicago.com/)

Go shopping on the magnificent mile. Go for an architectural boat tour along the river/canal. Go to the top of the Willis (Sears) Tower.

See if there is anything playing at Second City or another theater.

Other theaters as mentioned above (And arguably better than second city): iO (Improv olympic), Annoyance. Straight theater at the Steppenwolf. Also see whats playing out in Ravinia (requires taking the train or driving out of the city).

Another vote for the architectural boat tour; make sure it is the river cruise run by the CAF.

Arbiter, Bat 17 is a favorite in our family too. We’ve been there a few times over the last six months; our son and his friends really like this place too. I think of it as a great place for beer aficionados so it might not be the best place for prospective students. :)

The beer is admittedly part of the draw for me. However, I started going before I could drink (being honest, before I could drink THERE). The food is awesome for the price in both quality and quantity and its a cute place.
