Towels

How many towels do you have? And how often do you wash them?

2 are in my room, one is in my team's locker room.

The one's in my room get changed once a week, and I rotate washing, and the locker room one hasn't been washed in a month or so.

two. I wash both of them every week, so I use one for 3 or 4 days and then use the other one. I know lots of people who just have one, but I like having two. I would imagine you'd need more if you were doing a sport though.

and i think you would need more if you are a girl. every day, i usually use one towel for my hair and one for my body. i am planning on bringing at least four or five to college.

I tend to think 4 or 5 is way too much. I think most people make the mistake of bringing way too much stuff to college (I definitely brought too much). You have to remember that you not only have limited space, but you also have to pay for laundry, and paying to wash 4-5 towels is a lot. In general when it comes to buying stuff for college, be realistic, don't go shopping for tons of stuff, and always realize that if you need something else, you can buy it after you move in.

right...but i don't know if i could stand using the same towel for two weeks. from what i have heard, kids generally do their laundry every two weeks, right?

I'm a guy. I have 6 towels. I use each one no more than twice. But then, I shower every morning.

I also do laundry every week.

I'm a man. I have 2 towels. I use each one no more than 15 times. But then, I shower every night.

I also do laundry every month.

I'm a girl. I have 2 towels, don't keep track of how many times I use them before I wash them and I shower every morning and after I workout.

I do laundry when I run out of underwear, about every two weeks.

I do laundry once a week, and most people I know do as well. However, I go to school in a rainy climate, so that may have something to do with it, getting soaked constantly requires using lots of socks, jeans, etc.

however with the towel thing, i don't think it matters how often you use them...i mean, you use a towel after you've showered and are clean! Unless you're drying yourself off after working out, I don't think they need to be washed that often, unless you're willing to spend the money to do so.

Four, but I use one or two to keep my wet shoes on or put my snow stuff on.

I´m a guy. I have 2 towels. I shower every day (that should go without saying), and 5 days a week I shower at night too ( after working out). I rotate the towels every week basically. It´s working out.

I have 4 & switch them about once a week; I do laundry every 2-4 weeks, depending.

Remember that you may have to walk down the hall to the shower, and may run into visitors, tours, hallmates, and who knows who else. For this reason, most girls I knew preferred bathrobes to wrapped towels, so a robe to wear + 1-2 towels for drying/hair were plenty.

I personally never had a need for more than two + a hand towel, but I definitely recommend bringing more than one. If you have a visitor who wants to shower, it's good to have a spare on hand. Ditto if you go to the beach, want to lie out by the pool, or whatever...nice not to have to use the shower towel that you're not planning to wash for another few days.

Towels are easy and relatively inexpensive to buy at Target, Wal Mart, etc., but they take up a fair bit of packing space and weight. IMO, easier to start with too few (within reason) + build up if it's really necessary.

hmmmm..i think two are good amount...unless you're a girl.

I'll probably take a robe and 3 or 4 towels with me...but my bathroom will most likely be inside my dorm.

I hate to start a new thread for this and I figure this is kind of about the same thing, but what do you guys do about soap? I'll be in a communial bathroom so I will have a shower caddy. Would having a bar of soap be hard to do since it will be slippy and wet? Should I switch to liquid soap in a bottle?

I have alot of towels, probably about 8, but some of them (like 2) are separate for my hair. I don't really like reusing towels after I use them on my body (I'm weird). I also have a bunch of washcloths but they last forever before I have to wash them again.

Just buy one of those soap container thingies.

my d switched to body wash for that reason - slimy bar soap vs plastic bottle of body wash (in emergency could be shampoo - not the plan but exams call for drastic measures...)
