Tower Court West Hall

Could anyone share information about this dorm?
Thanks

ahhh i LOVED tower!! it was such a great dorm to live in however the food was at times questionable.

Thanks!! Can you tell me anything about the rooms? Where are the 150's located? Any other details about life at the Tower would be great.

Well, you're either in 153, 152 or 154. I lived in TCW 154 my first year, and it's the best room on the floor. You're in the back of the west wing of the building, near the emergency exit, which is useful for moving. 1W has a pretty high concentration of first years which makes for a better community than other areas of Tower. The furniture in 153 is a bit awkward and 153 bears the brunt of the obnoxious door alarm. 154 and 153 have south facing windows, and 154 has four windows, which is rare in tower.

Thank you Wendy for taking the time to share so much useful information on this site. I just realized I am actually in 140's. Any information on this part of the Tower and the rooms?

Same wing, just less far down the hall. You are in a "dingle", which means that next to you will be an upperclasswoman living in a room that is about the same size of your room, but alone and with half the furniture. Dingles are a bit crowded, but unless you live in the new dorms, or a very small number of other rooms, a triple, most first year doubles are pretty small. One of my floormates first year used to repeatedly come over to my room and complain that the shortest people got the largest room on the floor.

If you have an even room number, you will be facing the courtyard, outside, you will be facing the traffic circle.

Thanks Wendymouse! The most information to date. Any other suggestions for incomings about making it work in these small rooms (I guess only a few of us will be in the dingles)? How is the bathroom situation?

The bathroom situation is fine. I wasn't particularly bothered by the default condition of the bathrooms. The cubbies are a little nasty, but I washed mine nice and clean first, and the old scum came off. You will have a good bathroom if people don't throw up in it often.

As for space, you will have bunked beds, you can also stack your bookshelves, or put one in the closet.

My daughter has been assigned to a Tower Court West 2nd floor quad (Rm236). I have not been able to find a floor plan or any description of the layout for a quad. Are there really four girls living in one room? How does that work? Are there any advantages to living in a quad?? Sounds likea slumber party that might get old really quickly!

We have floor plans on the Wellesley email system, which aren't online because of security reasons.

236 is a four person room, twice as big as doubles on the floor, with two closets.

Personally, I think it would be nice to have a group of four. I'd bet there'll be a two and two split, but you'll always have a nice bunch of choices for dinner and lunch buddies. If she needs privacy, the academic quad is very quiet except right in between classes, and I adore the music library when I need peace and quiet, but still might want to talk with my friends. Clapp can get intense when everyone's studying, but the muslib always stays pretty chill.

But I digress, her first year mentor will tell her all of this, I'm sure.

Hi Prelude Did you like living in the Tower West? How can the floor plan be accesssed if we have a WC email ? Thanks

You can't access the floorplans until you get Firstclass during orientation. They're made to help current students block and chose upperclass rooms.

Any information on tower west 330 wing 330-335. Location, room size etc thanks

Tower Court has the nicest common room on campus. The Tower Complex is the nicest on campus if you ask me. Tower is huge though, so the community isn't as great as the smaller dorms, but it's worth it.

The dining hall is bad at times, but you can pretty much always eat pasta or pizza or a burger if the other options are sub par. Orrrrr you can go to one of the other dining halls if you feel like it.

Are you in Tower 333? That's a south facing, squarish double that used to be a sophomore room. The closet takes up some of the floorspace, and there's only one. You have a lake view, and south facing rooms get the most light.

I don't know much about it other than I used to live in 334, which is a completely different room setup (triangularly shaped triple). You are close the the stairs, the elevator and the bathroom, though I wouldn't expect any noise from the elevator. In general everyone on the courtyard can hear the business of everyone else on the courtyard. In 334, I tended to catch a fair bit of incoming smoke.

Thanks Wendymouse!! Yes it is tower 333- there must have been a problem because we got moved from the 140's - hopefully for the better. I hope smoke is not an issue on the south side? What do you think is needed to equip this room relative to the amount of available space? Under bed storage ? Plastic standing carts? Sorry to ask for all these details but it will be so helpful for planning and shopping purposes. In general the reaction to Wellesely is so amazingly positive - barring the social life challenges we are a lucky bunch

Here's the floor plan for Tower 3rd floor. :)

Be aware of the fact that there is no scale for floor plans, ie, do not make too many assumptions about room size (even relative room size) from the plans.

Tower has no built-in underbed storage, so that's a good bet. I honestly don't know if you have to bunk the beds in that room, so don't intend to store more than half a bed's worth of stuff under the bed just in case.

Wallspace is at a premium, so while we had room for a rolly cart, you may not. As frustrating as this is, there isn't a lot you can know about what you need for your room until you see it. The best thing to do is to sneak off on the first day of orientation and go to Route 9 with your roommate, courtesy of the parental car. You probably will be luckier than most since your room is an ex-sophomore room, so not a dingle.

Any chance that you have a link to Tower Court 2nd floor floorplan? I could not see any quads on 3rd floor. My daughter is in a 2nd floor quad. Thanks!
