Towers 3 ?

Does anyone know if the beds in the Towers 3 individual rooms have room for storage underneath? I am thinking of having my son store a suitcase or maybe even a set of golf clubs under the bed if there is room. I remember the closet is reasonable size but I forgot to check whether there was room under the bed to store things when I toured last.

They are “full” sized beds and cannot be raised. Having my d measure for you

Thanks for the info.

@dbhawk hopefully she will remember and get back to me tomorrow

@dbhawk she says it 12 inches clearance but don’t hold me to that…lol…but it’s probably close.

Thanks to you both so much. Working on some planning as we are out of state from Illinois. Good luck to her on her finals this week!

Don’t hesitate to ask me other questions!
I certainly don’t mind.
Thanks!

@dbhawk. S lives in Towers 3 and he measured the space at 10 inches. He also said that his bed cannot be moved.

@VABogart thanks for the info. At least there is some room under the bed to store things out of the way. This info helps with our planning. Go Knights!

@dbhawk @VABogart
Lol on the measurement from my d…at least she was close!!!
Now I don’t understand why he can’t move his bed though. All 4 of the girls in my d suite moved their bed from one wall to another. I helped my d move her bed when we moved in 2 years ago…it wasn’t easy because there is so little room to maneuver as it is a full. She wanted it off the kitchen wall because her door wouldn’t open all the way. She has moved it back to the original space recently because she needed a little more floor space to put the pink fluffy rug…lol…1st world problem!!! Many students put their dresser in the closet to make more room to accommodate their mini-fridge…yes…there is a full size fridge in kitchen…yes that does make it difficult to place your t.v. thats connected to the free cable. D put monitor on top of fridge. Oh the burden of it all…LOL!!! Not quite the same as my dorm life 100 years ago when I ate Spam and walked 2 miles to class “uphill both ways” !!!

@dbhawk in all seriousness, there is a closet/pantry in the commom area. Maybe a little negotiation with the suitemates will result in the clubs going there or maybe just a corner in the common room. It doesn’t hurt to ask.

Fyi…bring toilet paper!!

@ufmomfriend great tips! Thanks for the info. We want to limit the times we drive to Orlando as it’s a 16+ hour drive so planning is important. Thankfully it’s only a 2 hour flight from the airport a few miles from oiur house.

Ask anything…i have 2 in towers right now!!

Thanks to all of you this is very helpful. My son will be in tower 3 this fall.

Does anyone know if the 2 credits for the honors symposium counts toward the 12 required to be a full time student? Also is there an honors symposium both fall and spring semesters freshman year? Doing some rough course planning with my son to prepare for orientation in June and to help him focus on which of his 7 AP tests to focus on in the next few weeks. Thanks in advance.

What are his 7 AP Classes and what is his intended major? Does he have other AP or DE classes from earlier?

He takes Physics x 2, Gov x 2, Spanish, Calc BC and Stats in May. Previously has credit for English, CS, Chem. CS major. After looking at UCF website for AP credit transfer and their GEP website I have a good sense on that now. I have seen some places where Honors Symposium 1 IDH 1900 I believe is listed as 2 credit S/U grade for fall and some places have Honors Symposium 2 for spring as well. I assume all honors students take the Symposium 1 in the fall but hadn’t seen Symposium 2 mentioned on my skimming of the undergraduate catalog under the Burnett Honors College section. So I was checking if anyone knew off hand if Honors Symposium is a requirement for Spring and if the 2 credits of Symposium 1 count toward the 12 full time requirement since it’s essentially pass fail and not traditionally graded.

Follow the UG catalog. If you haven’t already, send in previous AP scores to UCF so they show up on your audit. Make certain to take a complete list of all AP classes to orientation because I assume he will go to orientation prior to the scores coming out in July. Don’t worry, these advisors are very use to students coming in with lots of ungraded AP classes…you will just change your class schedule around after they come in.

In regards to the 2 hours…im pretty sure they count toward 12…but the program has changed a little in last few years. I would suggest giving Burnett a quick call tomorrow to confirm the hours and to confirm symposium for fall only. They are there to help you!!

Grab honors classes during registration to fulfill the requirements. And remmber he will be registering for both fall and spring…but it’s easy to change classes around anytime after orientation. It can be stressful because no parents allowed. You are doing the smart thing by going in prepared and informed.

Go Knights!!

Thanks for the tips. I will contact Honors College for further clarification.

@dbhawk Yes, the symposium counts towards the 12 credits. It must be taken this Fall to be in the honors program. On the myUCF page, there’s a link to myscheduleplanner, which can tell you when the classes are and can help you plan the schedule. You can let him play around with different schedule/class times so be can see what he likes
