Hi guys! I am a sophomore and in the fall I applied for all the USC scholarships I was eligible for. I just got an email from the Town & Gown people saying they would like to interview me for the scholarship.

So, here are my questions:

Do I need to know anything about the Town & Gown organization for the interview?

What kinds of things would they ask me about during this interview?

Do you know anything about Town & Gown? Do tell.

Do you have any tips for my interview?

Thanks guys! Any responses are much appreciated :]

veggie,
Town and Gown is the oldest women’s support group at USC. It was founded in the early 1900s. There are about 700 members, both alumnae and friends of the university. Their main purpose is to support students at the university by awarding scholarships.

Town and Gown scholarships are worth up to $10,000, depending upon the candidate and interview. They are looking for academic achievement, campus involvement and leadership.
Note, these are not loans.
Do your homework…This could be a great help to you financially. These are wonderful women who work all year raising funds to support the scholarships.

Check out Town and Gown on the USC website: [University of Southern California](http://www.usc.edu) .

I am interviewing for TG wondering what questions they asked you. Would you please share it with me. I am little anxious about the interview.
Thank you,

inthegrove, I believe the best advise I can give you is to relax and be yourself. Any interview is about letting yourself shine through. (Difficult if you’re anxious in the interview) Enjoy the process and good luck!

Three years ago my S interviewed for T&G. He had a resume & the required forms. The interview was literally less than 10 minutes and he said they mostly talked about his younger sister and her (very expensive) hobby. We drove back home figuring he blew it, but he did receive the scholarship. He said it was a panel interview and everyone was very nice and welcoming.

@surflj…wow, that’s so exciting! Doesn’t time fly. I’m having a hard time believing my son is a senior in HS! LOL. Do you mind me asking how much the T&G scholarship is? Was your S able to get any other merit aid? We would love to send my S to USC, just trying to figure out how to make it work financially :-)

She said the interview went well. Questions were all related to info provided in the T&G application. Sounds like they might read through applications earlier in the day and make notes for interview questions.

My son went Monday too. He said that the interview went well and that all of the women were really nice. His questions focused on his app too. Racedad…did your daughter ask when they’d be notified?

mums, they did mentioned it would be sometime around mid-April. They requested all students that have not been admitted as of their interview, to contact them after they get notifications and provide that status. I guess T&G will allocate from that point based on applications, interviews, etc.

Adding on to what racedad said, when I had my interview last week with them, at the end of the interview they handed me a card (I’m assuming your son/daughter should have gotten the same thing) saying to call or email them so they can know if you were admitted or not (I believe they only did this for the people who weren’t admitted yet). That way they can decide who to give scholarships to.

My son has already been accepted and they gave him the card too, and told him to let them know if he chose a different college (presumably also so that they can decide who to give the scholarship to). USC still high on the list, though!
