My daughter has narrowed her choices down to Towson, Roger Wiliams and Scranton. Early Childhood or elementary education. Any feedback on these choices would be appreciated. Looking for success rates in passing state certification and issues transfering certification to NY. She would be OOS for each of the schools.

I can’t speak to the other schools, but my D is currently a junior at Roger Williams and loves it. She is out of state as well, but so are many others there. She has had roommates who have been education majors (not one herself) and they seem to be doing well.

D likes the atmosphere of RWU. She likes the class sizes, the availability of the professors, and the location on the water. The dorms are just fine. The food is ok. The activities are to her liking. She is challenged but not defeated by the academics.

This is so good to hear. My daugther is planning on attending RWU this fall as a criminal justice major. She loves the campus and feel of the school. However, she does not know anyone else going there. Do you know if most students stay on campus on the weekends?

If she wants to do education, Towson is the place to be. Now, I’m probably bias because I am attending Towson next year, but statistically, Towson puts out the most teachers out of all the colleges in the state of Maryland. They really emphasize education at Towson, and I think that is very important when it comes to choosing a school when you have a specific major in mind. Also, out of the three, Towson is the cheapest :D

Towson’s a whole lot nicer weather than Scranton…

We live a plane ride away from RWU, and this is the first year that D has a car. She has always found things to do on the weekend, and my sense is that most students stay on campus on the weekends, excluding long holidays like Easter. My D went to campus not knowing another person, and she has made friends that will last a lifetime.

She loves the fact that RWU is right on the water and that the weather is quite mild (for a Midwest girl).

Good luck to your daughter
