Is being a semifinalist something worth reporting to colleges? I would report being a finalist, but seeing as how finalists aren't announced until after decision letters are mailed, is this something worth reporting? Just wondering. I guess I don't know how big of a competition it is to get this scholarship (or to be a semi)....

Thanks.

semifinalist here too! oh joy...more things to fill out. oh well, can't argue with a chance for $$!

are you notified if you don't make semifinalist?
anyone know?

Semifinalist!!! I'm from Florida, to answer those who were wondering... D_rolla08, I was wondering the same thing if we should report to colleges if we are semifinalists... I don't think if that is a significant thing to report, but maybe it is... Good luck to all semifinalists!!!

I would suggest including Toyota Community Scholar semi-finalist in your resume d_rolla. I remember I included it in my resume as:

Toyota Community Scholar Semi-Finalist (pending selection as finalist)

I received this postcard in late December saying that my application was complete and if you dont advance you wont see further contact...so I dont think they contat the people other than the semi finalsits....

other semifinalists, please answer! what is your comm. project and stats? just wondering...

Hey mathwiz... thanks! But I already sent in my resume to all of my colleges.... I remember my friend getting a good scholarship last year and seperately reporting it. I just wasn't sure if Toyota is a competitive scholarship or not.

d_rolla,

I'd definitely recommend that you report the Toyota Scholarship to your college choices if you do in fact become a Toyota Scholar. It is a fairly prestigious scholarship and would definitely look good to colleges (in addition, they'd probably be happy to see that you'd be getting external aid... it means there'd be less money they'd have to give you :)

Mathwiz:

Thanks for the advice! The only problem is that the scholars are selected after admissions letters are sent out.... so do you think I should report my semifinalist status? Sorry to drag the conversation on.... but I just want to do what's best.

did you guys send in everything together in one big envelope or did you send in the recommendations separately from the questionaire?

Is everything due March 10th? I am cutting it close, oh my.

I mailed out my application today.

I wish we all got a little money for even being Semifinalist. Haha. Wouldn't that be lovely.

which address do we mail it to?

on the letter it says:
Toyota Community Scholars Program
Scholarships and Recognition Programs
Educational Testing Service
1425 Lower Ferry Road
MS Q-220
Trenton, NJ 08618

On the yellow application form, it says
Toyota Community Scholars
PO Box 6730
Princeton NJ 08541

Yes I am confused about this as well!

"About the previous address question, I just called and they said that if you are using regular mail, send it to the PO Box address, if you are using overnight mail or something else, send it to the other one. Hope that helps :-)."

If you looked through past posts on this thread, it's on a page from last year. They had the same dilemma.

What if I sent it with priority mail? I guess it's too late now, but I just sent it to the address that was stamped on the recommendation envelopes, which was the second one if my memory serves me right.

I'm sure that in the end it all goes to the same place.

i mailed mine today. yay! i want this really badly. when do we find out? mid april?
