Hey, I'm currently a junior in high school, and want to get recruited in the throws.
My discus PR as a junior was 172-7 and shot 49-10
My SAT scores are math 720 reading 720 writing 800 to a total of 2240.
My weighted GPA is around 4.2
Can anyone tell me what my chances are of being recruited to like Princeton, Yale, or Stanford?

Academically should be ok. Shot put looks a little short but who knows. May also depend on your size and current training regime If you are now a junior! You should write Coach Samara soon. He will be able to contact you July 1 and give you some indication.

These guidelines may help … [Men’s Track Recruiting Guidelines](http://www.ncsasports.org/recruiting-tools/College-Track-Recruiting/mens-track-recruiting-guidelines). The Ivies tend to be on the lower end of the DI requirements. Recruitment for track and field is tough because the squads are so big and recruits cross 4 classes of students … some years they may only be able to recruit 1 or 2 weight men. Contacting coaches is typically very easy (usually there is a contact link on the team web-page) and their responses will let you know if you are in the hunt pretty quickly.

PS - If you’re a borderline IVY recruit then the NESCAC schools (Amherst, Williams, etc) would likely be VERY interested in recruiting you … for these school look at the D3 guidelines.

PS #2 - you may get more responses on the athletic recruiting forum here on CC
