Anybody running track this spring? My physics class conflicts with practice so I won't be able to run this year :( But, I do plan to continue training for short sprints (30m, 60m, and 100m) I'm trying out for a team in July, where I'll be tested in these sprints so at least I'll have something to motivate me! Anybody else running track? Which events? Are you PUMPED???

400m runner here. Only joined junior year, but still finished fourth at conference championships. PR is a 53.26, but I'm hoping to drop to 52, maybe 51 if I can get my 300 time down to a 38-39 (should be able to, I ran a 42 in sweats against the wind the other day - and it was freezing). Thinking about doing 300m hurdles too, the qualifying times last year were pretty bad.

Winter track has been fun - it's more unorganized and lax. We had a meet, I ran in the 4x200...we did well (2nd out of 9 teams), lost to the host team, but that's because they have an indoor track to train in every day (my school will have one next year, but it'll be too late for me).

I wanna run the 4x400 at Penn Relays so badly. I was 6th at trials last year, but two seniors graduated, so I should be able to crack the top 4 this time. I can't wait.

I run the 600m at indoor and the 400 m for spring.
I am really not that great
2:10 for the 600 and 1:15 for the 400, but I really like the sport so... :)

600m...::shudders::

I had to run a 500m indoors, and it was hell. Don't get me started on the two times I had to run an 800. For me, running a 5K cross-country race is less scary than an 800m race (even if the 5K has hills).

worth2try thats my 400 time yay

i have a meet tomorrow (Mayors Cup at the Armory)and im running 3000 and 4x800
im not good at any one thing so my coach makes me do a lot of different distances lol

in outdoor though i mostly do 800s

some of my [sad] PRs
200 32 (last wk)
400 75 (last wk)
800 3:00 (2 wks ago)
1000 3:55
3000 13:55 i think

for comparison, my last 5k race was 25:01 and 2.5 was 20:21

Im a sophmore.

100: 11.72
200: 25.9
300hurdles: so bad i dont remember

i didnt know there were so many runners here. im a 200/400m runner, ran a high 51 for the 400 last year, this year im definately going sub 50, no question about it. i went 22.8 in the 200 last year at leauge finals, looking to go for a low 22 this year. if youre not that good, dont worry about it guys. u just need to work hard, u dont even need talent. my times for the 400, starting from 8th grade were: 75,59,53,51. every year i improve. u just need to be consistent and train all year long, maybe with just one month/ year off. my track coach just quit on us a month ago and ive been training alone for that month. its hard, but more rewarding. lets try to keep this thread going until season begins, so we can find out how much everybody improves.

PRs

19:41 5K- Eh, Hopefully 18:00 by the end of next season
2:20 800- Hopefully 2:12 by Outdoor Championship. At least that's what my coach wants..
5:33 Mile- never run anymore...

i love spring track & field!
i do the 100m, 200m and high jump. woooo, can't wait til late march for the season to start! :)

hey today i got a new PR for the 3000!

13:05

hells yeah!!!!
(i know its bad but i dropped almost a whole minute lol)

Does anyone have any good training tips for 100m and 200m?

I also noticed some people talking about indoor season. Where I go to school (bay area CA) that is unheard of at the high school level.

^^That's because you guys don't need and indoor season. You all can run outdoors all year long.

Indoors is fun - it gets louder because the cheerers' voices echo throughout the complex, but it gets stuffy and the gun is really really loud.

100m - 11.7
200m - 24.5
long Jump - 16 ft 7 1/2 inches
triple Jump - 37 ft

i just joined last yr as a sophomore
what does PR stand for, i no it refers to ur personal best, but why PR...lol?

Personal Record

Indoor is simply disgusting. It is sooo stuffy and impossible to breathe; my throat hurts after running there every single time.

Everybody, please refrain from participating in Track and Field for the Track and Field Gods are planning an annual "Wipe Out" of Track and Field athletes.

Ah...finally some warmer weather. We had a kickass workout today - short and sweet. 400m in 57, then a bunch of 200s (I ran like a 26,29,28). I felt really great (aside from the fact that I threw up after the second 200) until after practice, when my left leg cramped up while I was driving. That was a painful ordeal.

I'm running track this spring

PRs:
5k 17:04
3200 10:22
3000 9:50
800 2:15
1600 4:50

Oh, I forgot the mention the lighter part of the day. So my buddy Duplinsky ran a 9:07 in the 3200 this weekend at VT, so to celebrate, my art teacher bought two huge boxes of cereal, milk, spoons, and bowls for the class. She would have bought donuts, but she knows that Steve doesn't eat donuts. So we all just ate like 5 bowls of cereal each, and Steve took the leftovers (and probably finished them off himself).

man i hat cramps. thye come at random times too. one time i was just sleeping in the middle of the right, then wham! i woke up to a cramped up calf. i had to hold my toes up for a long time until it went away. its always in the calf for some reason. neone know why?
