So right now I'm a sophomore running the 200, 400, and my times are 25 and 56 respectively but they are likely to drop. I was just wondering the type of times I would need to have to get interest or likely letters from:

A) D3 academic schools like UChicago
B) D1 Ivy's.

Ivybound24,
I recently got recruited at an Ivy League school for track and field.
For D1 Ivy schools, even though their recruiting standards are not that different, it really depends on which school you are talking about.
For example, Harvard’s recruiting standards were 22.0 for 200m and 49.5 for 400m and on the other hand, Princeton’s recruiting standards were faster.
If you want to know the schools’ recruiting standards, you can just email the coaches and they will be happy to tell you.
Also, what I learned through the recruiting process was that even though coaches recruit athletes base on their times, coaches also look at their potentials.
One big factor for me was that I only ran track for 2 years and coaches saw potential in me and recruited me.
So it is really important that you drop your times in upcoming season and your Junior season. And I think your Junior season’s time is the most important because all the processes are done before you start your Senior season.
And for Ivy schools, academic parts are as important as your athletic parts.
For D3 schools,
I have talked to couple D3 schools and most of the schools required under 23 for 200m and 50 for 400m.
I hope this helped:)

If you have specific schools you are interested in, don’t wait for coaches to contact you. Get in touch with coaches via e-mail and fill out the on-line recruiting questionnaires to get on their mailing lists. Share with them your times, grades and what your plans are to get on their radar. They will also tell you (in most cases) what they are looking for to be considered.
