Track and Field!

holy crap CJ that's sick as hell i wish i could run that fast :(

Ugh I will be honest I am not stoked about track this year. Senioritis has me totally over anything pertaining to high school, track included. But I was voted "most improved" last year and there is no one else to fill my relay spot, so I feel obligated.

We've been conditioning since January, weather permitting.

Anyway, here are my events/times (I'm a girl, no way can I compare to CJ - you're amazing! My times are about average I guess, but they're good enough for the rural area I live in)

400 - 68
800 - 2:38
1600 - 6:04
3200 - 12:45

The 3200 was just a race they decided to throw me in a few times last hear. I hope to god they don't make me do it this year, running 8 laps sucks. My main even is the 4x800 and the mile.

Guy, MA, this is my first year of indoor track (I'm a senior)
400m: 55
800m: 2:03
1000m: 2:45 *my best event
1600m: 4:57

last season PR's:
200m: 22.09
Triple Jump: 45'-1"

Those are pretty good times for first year Boston!

Damn Newjack...what state?

male, ca, freshman
i was thinking of joining this year but i don't think my mile time is fast enough.
miles are usually from 6:20-6:30

if everyone put their genders it would make a lot of sense... a 5:30 mile for a girl is pretty good, for a guy not so much. ^.^

i'm a girl, pennsylvania. gonna be a senior.. PRs:
3200m: 12:02.9
1600m - 5:47 (horrible, never really got a good shot at it bc i only run the 3200m in big meets)
800m: 2:35

My goals are/were (I'm injured right now and it's not looking good) to run 11:20 in the 3200m, therefore qualifying for Penn Relays, NON and States, and breaking the school record of 11:24.

Haha whatever lhdistcass I'd kill for your records!! My humble dream is to get below 6:00 this year for the mile. It's cool that you're aiming for such high events though, I'm more of a passive runner.

There was this girl from one of our local schools who ran a 5k in 16:00-something. CRAAAAAAZY

_daniel:
My mile times were aroud there, but after a few tough weeks of practice, I think it was 5:45 in the first meet, I would go for it. Also, there are other events than the mile...

i haven't really decided yet, as most of you all know, track hurts a lot and is a huge time commitment
but i guess if i can get my 400 under :50, my 800 under 1:58, and my mile under 4:35, i'll try out. but again, college is where you go to learn, not run, so not really sure yet

i start in march! a month from the other day..

800, occasionally i'll be in the 400 or mile

is anyone else here considering track and field in college?

^^^
i've thought about it but it seems as though it would take a way from the college experience since collegiate sports are so demanding. i think i'd rather do intramural soccer or something fun and less demanding than running collegiate track.

Newjack: That actually exactly what I was thinking (intramural soccer that is)

I'm going somewhere D1. I have been recruited by a lot of low D1 and D2 schools but, I think I'm going to try and walk on to a solid D1 program.

It all depends on where I get into for school.

16s for a girl in high school is nuttts...

i'm running in college, D3. i probably could have walked on at some (key word SOME.. penn state pretty much told me run 11:20 in the 3200 and call us back) D1 schools, but my final choice had a lot of factors and just happened to be D3. i think it's right for me, i'm still going to put as much effort in and hopefully do well regionally and nationally.

can anyone tell that track/xc is my sport/one true love? lol

and _daniel do you have to try out for your track team? our high school is pretty much like, the more the merrier and we make great runners out of everyone.

guy. NJ. asian

1600m: trying to sub 4:44 (4:50 flatish)
800m: hoping to sub 2:04 (2:08.0 PR in winter)...i hv a lil obsession with the number 4 lol

i'm glad to see so many CCers that run! good stuff.

(cJ1212, those times are pretty beastly)

Man I haven't trained since the end of XC season which was over 3 months ago. :( Track practice started yesterday with 200m repeats and a "easy" run today, yet I'm exhausted. Man I really don't wanna run track, but I have to because I need 1 more semester of P.E. credit. :(
