Trader Joe's Trading Post

I bought a small, heart-shaped chocolate mousse cake our TJ had in their bakery section. Valentine’s Day is coming… I think it was $4.99. To my great surprise, my husband, who is very picky about chocolate cakes, loved it. I guess I will buy another one!

/Still no patties… :frowning:

:+1: I actually saw that same list in CNN! Still no hashbrowns at our TJ. :unamused:

No hash browns here either and the little boy who likes “a good breakfast” has noticed.

The saddest though is the loss of the Morello cherries. Excellent quality and so well priced.

Also still griping about the loss of the frozen croissants which needed a rise overnight. They replacement is bad.

On your recommendation we got one of these for VDay and YUM! We heated it up about 8 seconds in the microwave and it was so delicious. I had bought it last week because it was the last one, but the buy-by date was 2/14. I worried it would be pretty stale by then, which is why I wanted to heat it up. 10/10. After heating, I kind of wished I had some vanilla ice cream to go with it.

:+1::+1: Best $5 dessert, right?

I looked for another one last Sunday, but the store was sold out. Oh well. We had chocolate covered figs (also from TJ) as our dessert yesterday.

Do you have any idea whether they have them year-round, even if not heart-shaped?

 good question! I usually skip the bakery section at TJ, but I will look!

Not the same but they do have the chocolate lava cakes that are a treat!

Ooh, I have a friend who never goes to TJ but I am always on the lookout for the chocolate-covered figs for her. I will have to take a closer look next time I’m in the store.

We’ve never been to an Aldi. Both Aldi and Trader Joe’s are owned by the same German company (in Germany one is Aldi Nord and the other Aldi Sud). This being said, is an Aldi similar to visiting a Trader Joe’s, or are they very different?

I would say they are very different - overall. I like both for different reasons. There are some products people claim to be the same just different packaging.

Trader Joe’s I sort of want to buy everything.

Aldi I use and appreciate some of their basic canned goods, the cheese section (great prices) , dairy like milk, cream cheese, creamer, sour cream etc, some baking supplies and meats like ground chicken, Italian sausage. I buy my ghee there too. Oh and the big chocolate bars! All the chocolate!

Two totally different animals imo, but with some products likely the same but just different packaging

Aldi’s in my home town in PA is where the Amish families like to shop. A Krogers is the only other game in town.

Ahhhhhhhh!!! My local TJ’s is not stocking my favorite salted Kerrygold butter. It’s a huge staple for me. I’m going to have to shop elsewhere for my butter. I hope there’s not a more widespread shortage. I hate all other butter. :smiling_face_with_tear:

Aldi doesn’t have Kerrygold but they have a knock off I believe. I get my Kerrygold at Costco and stock up when it’s on sale A that’s what I like to use in my butter bell!

Costco often has Kerrygold butter.

I’m not a member. I’ll ask a friend! Thank you.

Costco’s Kerrygold price is the best, IMO. I get the unsalted version and keep the packs in the freezer.

My Aldi has spreadable Kerrygold butter in the tub; my Costco has sticks of Kerrygold butter.

I shop at Aldi every week and it’s my favorite grocery store. I love their produce, and purchase baking essentials, canned goods, and meats there. I can’t find everything I need there, but I always start there. It is almost always less expensive than anywhere else.
