Trader vs. Investment Banker

Well, I just kinda thought about becoming a trader and I kinda like the idea of not working 24-7. So I have some questions:

Let’s assume I’m in a bank like Morgan Stanley or some other Bulge Bracket firm.

What are the typical trader’s hours vs. an ibanker’s hours?

I know traders trade things but what the hell do they trade? (Are they kind of like stockbrokers?)

Do they really make that much more money than banking? (and what the hell is fixed income trading?) Do sales&trading analysts make a lot more than ibanking analysts? I heard the bonus is huge compared to banking.

What are the top firms for sales&trading?

How much less monotonous is trading as opposed to banking?

Is it true that it’s easier to get into the s&t dept at BB than to get into corp. finance? (I think I’ve heard someplace that trading isn’t as ivy-heavy.)

How’s the business outlook for traders?

Which one would you choose and why?

Thanks in advance for all your input.
