Traffic from UCSD to Las Vegas

On Wednesday morning (the day before Thanksgiving) I will be driving from San Francisco to UCLA to pick my daughter, and then go to UCSD to pick up my son and continue to go to Las Vegas for a mini vacation. I know the traffic from LA to SD is going to be very bad. Does anyone know about the traffic from UCSD to Las Vegas? Will I be better off staying in SD for Wednesday night and leave for Las Vegas early Thursday morning like 4 or 5 AM?

Thanks for your response.

Boy - that's a lot of driving. The traffic to Vegas around any holiday is usually bad. I'd expect it to be bad towards Vegas on Wednesday and back from Vegas on Sunday.

If you left way early on Thursday, I'd expect traffic would be fine (but don't hold me to it). If traffic's okay, you should be in Vegas in about 5 hours. If it were me, I'd stay the night around UCSD and head to Vegas on Thursday. You already have a long enough drive to UCLA, then a potentially awful drive from there to SD that should take < 2 hours but could take > 4 hours depending on timing and traffic.

i went home a few weeks ago to San Jose and it took 11 hours from UCSD. it took 6 hours to get past LA alone.. i would reccomend staying the night.
