Hey guys. I was an international but got rejected from my choices, so I will be going to a top 10 uk university this fall. I also got waitlisted by Brown before being rejected.

I plan on applying to brown, Cornell, Upenn, UCB, UCLA, USC, stanford and maybe a few others

Is there anything I should know or should start doing right now?
Are my chances of transfering to Brown better since I was waitlisted as a senior?

This is what I have gathered so far:
Get in touch with my professors and try to stand out
Retake my SATs and SAT 2's (previous scores were 2050, 620/610) (poor I know)
Get involved in ECs, maybe do research work with professor

Is there anything else I should keep in mind?

Thanks.

Being WLed as a fr admit doesn’t help you per se, but it does show that you will be a competitive transfer applicant if you keep your grades up next year.

What does help you is not asking for FA since B has need-aware admissions for transfers.

I believe B will keep your fr application materials if you notify them this spring, email/call them, as it would save you time and money.

Yes I don’t plan on asking for FA

I have already emailed them and they said I will not need to resubmit my materials.

Do you think raising my 2050 to a 2200+ will have a significant impact?
I also plan on getting my SAT 2s in the 700s
As well as maintaining straight As (or close to that) in my UK university

I believe that covers the academics (right?)
What would you advice me to do outside of this?

As a soph transfer applicant, yes a higher SAT could help.

You’ve covered the rest as far as getting to know profs/TAs to get good LORs and participating in some ECs/research.

As far as the actual transfer application, work hard on the essay. Think of reasons why B suits you personally, try to make it an essay that is not generic, but rather one that only you could write.

Got it, I’ll keep that in mind.

I can’t imagine how crushing it will be if I get rejected a 2nd time. Fingers crossed
