Tranfer Chance?

Ok so I was in the CAP program my freshman year at UTSA. I did not meet the CAP requirements due to excessive partying and not really focusing on school. I ran out of money and decided to return home to go to cc. Currently im trying to transfer to ut again and im wondering what my chances are?

My GPA at UTSA: 2.444
My GPA at Lonestar Community College: 3.66 (I've made all A's but apparently since it was the school I had my Dual Credit at they calculate those into my gpa which I had 3 B's in from almost 3 years ago!!)
My Cumulative GPA: 3.06
My Cumulative GPA after Spring 11: 3.29

I'm also the treasurer of the accounting club here and I am currently awaiting to here whether i will be in PTK or not(this hinges on whether they take into account your GPA from other schools you have attended or just the one you are currently enrolled in.)

I'm applying to the McCombs Business School as a Finance major for my first choice and to COLA for economics as my second choice. I know I won't get into the business school but im hoping that they will let me into COLA. Hopefully they will look at the upward trend I've had from adding extracurriculars to making all A's on the last 36 hours. I know my GPA should be higher but there was no way to do so. I tried going to the dean of my school to get him to let me take more than the max load of 18 hours but he wouldn't permit it. So be realistic. What are my chances? What should I maybe do to help them?

bump*******

…anybody??

Slim to none

Anything any one can think of to better my chance??

Take McCombs off your list as your first choice major. Since there is no chance of you getting in, it only hurts your chances of getting accepted into the school at all. I’d try for COLA first and then Teaching or Undergraduate Studies as my second choice. You can always change your major later, though that will make you take longer to graduate.

I don’t think i can have undergraduate studies because i will have 72 hours done by the end of this semester, but i will change it to teaching. Will they look at the fact that I have made all A’s consistently for a full year or will my freshman year haunt me for the rest of my life.

Uh… the average transfer GPA is like a 3.6. Just saying.

But you can never make the basket if you don’t take the shot. So keep your chin up.

I know the minimum transfer GPA for general admittance is 3.0. It said that in my denial letter from last semester. I have also read that COLA generally has an acceptance from transfers being 3.2 as the minimum and a 3.5+ as general acceptance so I know I’m not there but im thinking that I will be a very little bit above there minimum and that they should look at the fact that this is the highest i could have got my GPA. If my school would have let me take 21 hours a semester it would be higher but they wouldn’t. Maybe im just being hopeful and my app will just be thrown to the side because of the low GPA. I only hope they take the time to read my essays before doing so.

I also found out today that I will not be in PTK so that only hurts my chances.

Anyone else wanna weigh in?

i am a transfer too dude¡¡¡, 87/100 no gpa here, i believe its around a 3.35 or 3.4, am i right??

either way, dont quit because of the comments in this web site, i know a guy who got into COLA with 3.19 gpa, and yes he was a transfer. so keep it up man… are you applying to other universities?

Wow really? what ec’s did he have?
Yeah im applying to tons.
Baylor
A&M
UTD
UH

uhhh, i dont remember all of the EC´s he had, but i do remember some:

Lacrosse
2 or 3 community service stuff.
1 job practice

The EC´s were not great, regular EC´s like many applicants out there. i also remember he had a regular SAT, dont remember the exact score but it wasnt a very good score.

I was shocked when he told me he was accepted, he didnt applied ED¡¡¡

Well i worked my magic and got into ptk and submitted my essays and apps today so wish me the best of luck!
I just need them to open my status check so i can submit the resume.

I don’t know if simply BEING in PTK will do anything. If later in your resume you put that you were deeply involved in it, then I understand, but just ticking the box saying you’re in it shouldn’t do much. Since the only requirement for it is a 3.5 GPA, all the McCombs transfers would have at least a 3.7/3.8 anyway…
