<p>Is St. Mary's a viable back up for transfer option to ND?</p>
<p>I talk about this a bit on my website <a href="http://www.nd.edu/%7Emnadorff/transfer%5B/url%5D">www.nd.edu/~mnadorff/transfer</a> on the "Rejected by ND, Now What" page. Long story short, SMC is a great school and you get a lot of the same privileges of Notre Dame. However, if your goal is to transfer, I cannot recommend Saint Mary's. A lot of girls do transfer from Saint Mary's but there are a ton more applicants than from any other school. Basically, what happens is Notre Dame wants diversity and they don't want all of their transfers from one school, so when you look at the acceptance rate for transfers from Saint Mary's it is very very low. You almost have to be perfect to transfer across the street! </p>
<p>There is more on this on my website but long story short SMC is a great backup school for Notre Dame, but not if you are hoping to transfer to Notre Dame. I hope that makes sense, if not let me know!</p>
