tranfer question

Hi, I am considering transfering to UMCP, I was wondering if any transfers can tell me about their experiences or if there are any things I should know before applying. Any useful information about anything transfer related is helpful! Thanks!

Unfortunately, we don’t seem to have many people who have transferred to UMD post here. CC could use them, as there are always lots of questions about chances, etc. Most people who are on this board came into UMD as freshman. Good luck, though!

I had the exact same question…i REALLY want to transfer to UMD-CP sophomore year in college.

one of my best friends transferred this spring. i’ll try to help :stuck_out_tongue:
she had it a little easier because she already knew some people. if you don’t, you gotta be outgoing. but if you join a club or sport [especially a club sport, rather than intramural] or greek life, you’ll have an automatic group of friends. it depends where they put you for housing, too, in the way of making friends. it’s a little hard because by sophomore year, a lot of people have groups. and of course you have your accepting and your not so much people. but all the people i know are pretty awesome and nice.
also, we’re reeeally big on school spirit. especially at sports game [we have a, um, reputation]. it’s so fun though. everyone gets into it.
and we’ve got a metro stop so you can pop over to DC for concerts or museums or the zoo. also along those lines, route 1’s got some little restaurants and bars that everyone goes to. especially freshmen [at the thirsty turtle, or more commonly turtle] and the 21 and over-ers [at bentley’s]
first few weeks of the fall semester are crazy party weekends. you can just walk into any house and no one cares. be confident and you’ll look like you know what you’re doing :stuck_out_tongue:
as for getting in, it’s competitive so you’ve gotta do well wherever you are coming from.

i hope all of this random stuff helps!
