Hello I am a freshman at a private college looking to transfer to Binghamton for the spring semester 2009. Anyone else trying to do the same? Also anyone who has...what is the process for my college grades this semester seeing as the due date is 11/15 the fall semester will not be over yet. Thanks for the info in advance.

Hey..I'm doing exactly the same as you are. I've been emailing this admissions officer, Melissa Clapp, with alot of questions. She's answered all of them. So if you need any info just email her..."msinchas@binghamton.edu"
Basically I'll run through what I have asked her. I'm using the common application. So the process would be to apply as a transfer student, obviously. When it comes to filling out your application they ask for academic info in the form of advisor information, current school, etc. For the school advisor info. that raised a question for me of who i should put. My HS counselor that knew me very well or my "official college advisor" who doesn't know me. She said the college advisor to the best of your ability. So that's the only part of the app that raises any possible questions. you pay, submit, your ready. I also asked her whether I needed an "official College report", seeing as how I had no college record. she told me no. just a secondary, report plus transcript. that secondary school report will ask your hs counselor to write a reccomendation for you as well as provide Binghamton with you class rank, gpa, etc. the form asks you to list your current year courses, meaning senior year, so i asked melissa if i should list what i had taken and she said no, just have the counselor clearly indicate what high school you attended. Then you need a teacher reccomendation and I went straight to my hs teacher i asked last year. the common app even says the recommendation can be from a hs teacher or college professor. my professors barely know me though so that wouldve been dumb. so make sure binghamton gets the secondary school report and transcript...the counselor rec should be attached with the secondary school report..and a teacher reccomendation needs to be received as well. after that your set. obviosuly ACT/SAT grades need to be sent to. when it came to the mid term grades she told me that an admissions officer can admit you based off just the HS stats but more than likely would want to see grades for the curret semester. so she left me with the link to the mid term grade report to have professors fill out. this is it.. http://admissions.binghamton.edu/apply/applications/MidtermGradeRept.pdf ...i asked when i should have professors fill it out seeing as how the deadline is 11/15 and she said best time to have it filled out would prob be mid october so grades can be accumulated more accurately. she has told me that the process is rolling admissions and the review process will begin by mid october. so the sooner you get your stuff in the quicker you can get a decision if they in fact don't wait for your mid year grades. decisions will be made for some, prior to the deadline. she said "i would recommend the sooner the better." so that is what i can leave for you. I've submitted my application already and the materials probably next week. I'm hoping they will make an early decision for me just based on my HS stats. i don't want to have to wait for mid year grades because then I am pushing the deadline and spots will get filled.
