Transaction Services in Big 4

Wondering what people think about working in the transaction services (m&a or somthing like financial advisory) group in a big 4 firm?

How hard is it to get those jobs? In general will they hire you right out of college or do they want some audit experience first?

As far as the job itself, do they pay basically the same as big 4 audit and tax? What about hours? Travel?

Do they only have that practice in select citys or in almost every office?

Thanks.

I'd love to work in transactional services. Pay's incredibly good, and it's kinda interesting.

They're really hard. Yes.

I don't know. They pay around $100k in ibanking. Hours: think 3 digits. Travel: think 30000 miles per year.

Mostly CorpFin (transactional services) are in New York, Chicago, Boston and LA/SF. But you might be able to find small offices in DC or Philly or something though.

Are you big 4 right now?

They pay 100K for what level? New hires? Seniors?

Do people usually stick around in that devision? Or do they bolt (I guess for MBA if thats an option??) after they make senior like tax/audit???

No, I'm not even in college yet. But I've been on CC long enough to be reliable.

so for the salaries does it seem like 100k for new grads, or with some experience?

The 100k figure includes bonuses. It's like ~$60k salary+~$10k signon bonus+~$30k bonus. The year after that, you can expect salary to go up a bit (maybe by ~$5k) and match salary for bonus. No signon the year after the first.

But then again, that's usually for ibanking analysts at Bulge Bracket (MorganStanley, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, First Boston, etc)

and you think that the ibankers in the big 4 accounting firms make the same salaries as the guys at the BBs?

What? I never said that.

I thought the OP was referring to BB firms. OK? Sheesh.

so for TS in big 4 --salary?
