Transcript and SAT/ACT scores

Do high schools only get my SAT/ACT scores if I put the optional high school code during the exam? I only ask bc my guidance counselor screwed up someone's transcript who used score choice at an approved score choice school and the counselor messed up and accidentally sent all sat and act exams he had taken on his transcript. I don't want to risk anything with this clown of a counselor.

Your high school will automatically receive the your ACT scores when you list it as your high school. The ACT website (online sign up page) will actually ask you whether you want it to send your scores to the school or not. If you choose yes, your school will receive your scores. Also, even though all your ACT scores get listed on your transcript, colleges still require you to send an official one. That official one is the one you get to choose
Hope I helped!

So if i never list my high school code on sat/act, my high school will never know what my scores were or even if I have ever taken either of these exams. I just want to be in complete control of my scores. What exactly is the point of having your high school receive your scores if you have to send an official copy through college board to your designated college anyways?

It’s just so your counselor knows what scores you got without you having to tell him. So no you probably shouldn’t send it to the school.
