Just got an email from McG, I know, I'm special :), saying that I my appplication is missing the transcript and/ or counselor report. The email said to fax these items, but doesn't MIT need an "official" transcript? Should I send the transcript and counselor report after I fax? I also have a dual-enrolled college transcript.

Why can’t you fax an official transcript?

Because it needs to have an official stamp. I’m sure they will look at the fax with the expectations that the official will follow in the mail. My son’s isn’t considered official if the seal is broken on the envelope.

I’m pretty sure that it would still be considered ‘official’ if your counselor faxed it over. The whole point of it being notarized is to ensure that no one’s messed with it between your counselor putting it in the envelope and MIT receiving it in the mail. You could e-mail the admissions office to ask, but I think that, as long as your counselor or other school official faxes it over, you’ll be fine.

I also have to fax my unofficial college transcript because the official won’t be ready in time. I am worried about the deadline for sending my school transcript and evaluation. I obviously don’t have my counselor evaluation, so I filled out a new one with the date as 11/19/09 and gave it to my counselor in case she did not keep a copy. My counselor wasn’t there when I handed in the evaluation, and I don’t think she works weekends. Thus, I am afraid she won’t make the Monday deadline.

Also, what happens if I fail to meet the Monday deadline, deferral?

Tomorrow’s Friday, she doesn’t work Fridays?

In any case, if you e-mail the admissions office and let them know what’s going on, it’ll probably be fine.
