Will this hurt me? Obviously, there's nothing I can do about that. But I'd like to know how much weight colleges will put towards my GPA and class rank since they are caculated, as one of my teachers put it, "the stupid way."

Yeah, my school's transcript is the same as that =(. It really concerned my when I look at my Algebra 2 grade in freshman year (It says C, but it was really a C+. Plus the teacher was horrible.)

Well... technically, it should kind of even out, no? I mean, sure, a B+ rounds down... but a B- rounds up!

Also, colleges try to look at GPAs and grades along with looking at the school you went to, so kids who get B's at a REALLY hard school that doesn't weight grades won't be out of the running because of the kids who go to easy schools that DO weight and get all A's, plus take Hnrs Art and Hnrs Choir.

Yeah, I agree with you. For most of my grades, this form of grading boosts my usual low A-'s. But my teacher says that it's likely schools won't put as great as an emphasis on GPA and class rank because schools don't know the specifics. I just wonder how true that it.

And if it matters, I attend a public school that claims to be highly ranked. But I have my reservations about that. I am in the IB program and have mostly A's, some Bs

bump bumpbump bumpbump

If you have good standardized test scores GPA isn't very important. My friend had terrible grades in my calc class but got into Stanford because of his 36 ACT

yeah I'm kinda banking on my standardized test scores. I take the ACT this saturday, hopefully I'll do well

I like your name by the way :D I'm not really a Lopez fan though.

Most schools from my experience don't have pluses and minuses.

haha a lot of ppl at my school get annoyed b/c they get like 103% in a class and end up getting the same recognition for it on their transcript as a person who got an 89.5% in the same class if the teacher takes pity on the latter and bumps up their grade.

i used to be one of those ppl who felt violated until i got my first A- and now i've become eternally grateful for the system=)

When your school sends your transcripts, they'll also send their school's profile. The profile will indicate whether or not they use + or - in their grading, so don't worry about it. Admissions will figure it out!

Well... technically, it should kind of even out, no? I mean, sure, a B+ rounds down... but a B- rounds up!
That's the spirit!

lol true SAT is the number one !!! (unluckily I'm not the one ) :(

lol ty for name compliment. I'm not really a Lopez fan, idk name just first thing that came to my mind.
