How does the +/- grading system work for grades on the UA transcript? Does UA put a numerical grade (92), a letter grade using the +/- system (A-,B+) or a gpa (3.89) on transcript for each class? Thinking about grad school apps and wondering how this +/- system works and how grad or medical schools handle this type of grading system.

On my son’s transcript, there is the letter grade for each class taken, including if there a plus or minus. If you took AP/IB and received credit for the subject, the grade is indicated by a P for passed. The GPA is also listed on the transcript.

^^^I’d like to add that UA does use the A+, so GPA tops out at 4.33 on a 4.0 scale. What I is found interesting is what +/- calculate as in the GPA. For example, an A- is a 3.66, not 3.7 as was used in my state. Going into more detail, we also have a cumulative GPA, UA GPA (all courses taken at UA), a major GPA, along with quality points (Class GPA*number of credits for that class) and GPA for a specific term. If you ever take graduate courses at UA, there is no +/- grading, only whole letters. If transferring college credit, it’s whatever the college put as the letter grade, but on UA’s GPA scale.
