Today I asked for my old ACT and SAT scores to be taken off my transcript as well as my freshman year PSAT. She refused and said it was part of my permanent record, but I thought they had to have my consent to even put one or more of these scores on there to begin with. Who's right?

I don't know that there's any "law" that says they have to ask for consent to send test scores. I mean, some schools have that policy and some don't, but I have never heard of anything like a uniform requirement for this.

I agree, though, that it should be up to the student... but I think that's just my opinion. The school here does the same thing. It aggravates me just on principle.

As far as the "old SAT scores" go, however, those would be reported by the CollegeBoard anyway if you request any scores to be sent. That doesn't address the ACT or PSAT issues, though.

Not a "law" but I could've sworn I'd read something about college board saying scores can only be put on transcripts with a signature. It's not a huge problem, I'm just annoyed.

I don't know... maybe someone else here knows something about that. I think it would be great if students could get schools to stop doing this.
