Hi everyone. I posted a similar topic a while back when I transferred to my current school. Now I'm in the process of applying to grad school and I have a question regarding a transcript. I registered for two classes back in 2004 at a community college but withdrew right away. There is, however, a transcript under my name from the school. It just has two Ws and no grades or credits. I never attended or registered at that school again. I'm applying to 13 schools both MA and PhD programs. I called most of the schools (some I got no answer because they are already closed for the holiday) and most of them said I shouldn't even bother submitting this transcript. One school said to submit everything. I'm trying to decide if I should submit it anyways? I don't want to appear as if I am hiding anything but it also doesn't look so great on my academic record. I know in some cases the person I spoke with was just an admin assistant or secretary and not necessarily the person who would be reviewing my app. I just don't want to risk not submitting it and if I got in, it coming up later on. On the other hand, like I said, it's not exactly a positive reflection of me.

If you never registered at the school then the transcript is probably just a mistake or someone else that has the same name as you. I would call the CC to clarify the issue and let them know that you never registered or attended.

Regardless it won’t have an impact. the transcript will show that “you”/the person withdraw from class NOt that they failed or something.

Thanks for your response. Perhaps my post was a little confusing. I did register, that’s why there is a transcript. Because I withdrew technically after the semester had started that’s why there is a transcript. But like I said, there are no grades or credits since I never actually attended that semester or any subsequent semesters at that school.

Most of the schools I applied to said to send transcripts from any school attended. Since you never attended this school, then it seems reasonable not to submit the transcript. If you’ve contacted the school and they said not to send it, then I would just do what they advised you to do. If you can get that in writing or get the name of the person you spoke to, that may be helpful if it becomes an issue later.

If you’re really worried about it, then just send it. Unless you have an otherwise very questionable record, I doubt two W’s from a community college that you didn’t attend from 9 years ago will matter in their decision. If you don’t get accepted to a school, I highly doubt it will be solely because of that transcript.

My program asked for transcripts at any school you were registered… Wouldn’t a W mean that you withdrew post add/drop period? If you dropped before then you (at least in my experience) wouldn’t have W’s or the classes on your transcript?
