I always thought that official HS transcripts include only the final grades for each class each year, as opposed to quarterly grades.

Yet when my D's school sent home an unofficial transcript prior to senior year class registration, all quarters were clearly marked.

This is a concern not for her (she had a C in an honors math class, but it ended up as a final C as well) but for her twin brother. He's had all As and one B for his HS classes in terms of final grades, but now he might be getting a C for a class in one quarter of junior year. He thought that since the final grade will be an A or a B, it's not a big deal, but now I'm concerned that colleges will see the quarterly C on the HS transcript.

I know it shouldn't matter, but from what I've heard, highly selective colleges examine everything! Thanks for any advice.

It’s a good idea to order an official transcript around now (or beginning of senior year) anyway, and check for errors.
Then you could see what shows up.

I didn’t know I could do that. My S’s school has over 3,000 students and a very regimented system, but I suppose it doesn’t hurt to ask! Looking more closely at my D’s unofficial transcript (which I see now was a good thing for her school to have sent out), it records semester & final grades, but not quarterly. Hmmmm. I will definitely contact my S’s school ASAP. Thanks!

I asked my D’s counselor for an unofficial transcript and she printed one out for me. Make an appointment with the GC. It was easy. Even at a high school w/3000+ students like ours!
