Im a senior in high school, and want to go into engineering (biomedical/mechanical with prosthetics) and my transcript doesnt have physics listed because originally I was gonna go into health car so I took honors anatomy instead. Do colleges defer students who dont have physics during high school? the highest level of math Im taking is Pre-cal. I would of dropped classes if I was allowed to but I cant do anything about it now. physics this year is only one class at my school and its full.
Engineering programs expect to see chemistry, physics, and pre-calculus or calculus. Is there any way you could enroll in a community college physics course, either locally or online?
Without having taken Physics and/or excelling in math (is calc offered at your HS?), I’d say you face an uphill struggle to be a serious contender for Engineering. 1st term Chem has HUGE amounts of Physics. You’ve GOT to get some Physics under your belt – and unless it, and math and chem come pretty easy for you, you may need to choose another path. Please speak with your math teacher for some guidance. Best of luck to you.
You need to speak with your own guidance counselor about this specific issue. That person should be able to tell you whether or not students interested in engineering who couldn’t fit physics into their schedule were admitted anywhere in previous years. Your counselor knows which colleges/universities are on your list, and may be able to make a few quick phone calls to admissions offices for you.
Sine you are in pre-Calculus now, and you can’t get the physics class this school year, it might make sense for you to pick up intro physics (and maybe a beginning calculus class) next summer at a community college. For engineering, you will need to have physics with a lab component, and that is hard to get in an online course.
I took chemistry, Physics is the only thing I havent taken, I got a A- in chemistry.Im a B+/A- student in Math.
Doesnt that mean I have to apply to colleges for next fall semester?
