Hi everyone!
My school offers this thing called credit by exam. Essentially, you take an exam and if you get >80, you test out of a course. Since the credit by exam grade isn’t calculated into our GPAs, I kind of blew them off. The problem is that these scores are included on our transcripts so now I have a bunch of Bs scattered all over my transcript. My question is how will colleges view these grades? Will they weigh them like it’s a normal course?
If it’s on your transcript, it’s probably what colleges are going to see. However, I would talk to your counselor/registrar as soon as you can about it.
Each high school has its own quirky individual “rules” and procedures for putting stuff on transcripts, so it’s hard to know for sure if those Bs will be visible to colleges.
Does your transcript look something like this?
Chemistry I. Grade: B. Semester Credit: 3.3
Chemistry II. Grade: A. Semester Credit: 3.3
Cumulative GPA: 4.0. Cumulative Credits: 6.6
In other words, are they just stating the B’s and not factoring them into your GPA? I may be interpreting your description wrong- feel free to share more details.
