Transcript Sent in Later - Where does that put me?

Hello everyone:

I got my transcript into UVA last week. I'm not sure exactly why UVA never received the first transcript--my school had reported it as being mailed--but that's not worth thinking about now. I take responsibility for its delay since after all it is my application. They received all credentials from me, even the mid-year report, before the official transcript. I was a bit concerned where that might put me in the application process.

All told, I think my application is strong, despite being an out-of-state applicant. But hopefully UVA reads in such a way that the time at which an application is reviewed has no bearing on the chances of admission of any given student. I'm applying to engineering if that makes a difference.

Thanks for any thoughts!

You will not be disadvantaged. I believe the admissions committee goes out of their way to reach out to applicants with incomplete files. Your file is now complete and decisions have not been finalized. All things being equal, you now have the same opportunity for acceptance as someone who’s file was complete on the first day of the application season.

Best of luck to you.

Robertr thank you for your reassurance and knowledge!
