Realized not too long ago that this is not the school for me. I want to transfer but of course the schools needs an official transcript, and of course I cannot send that official transcript until I pay $4000. I planned on taking out a loan for that $4000 but I don’t have any credit, and who is going to put that much trust into an 18 year old by co-signing their name on a private loan. Any suggestions on what I should? Should I take the semester off and disappoint my family? Are there any private loans for 18 year olds with 0 credit? Any response is greatly appreciated.
You can try to see if there is any way they will send out the transcript while you are on a payment plan, but chances are you are going to have to pay it off first. Why couldn’t you get a student loan to cover the tuition? Could your parents co-sign a private loan?
I don’t think acting in a financially judicious manner should disappoint your family even if it means taking one semester off from college. Explain the situation to them, agree upon a plan of how to pay off what you own the first college, be sure they know you will apply to transfer as soon as you can pay the balance and get a transcript, and move on in a positive manner from there.
But before you act, be sure that the school you want to transfer into will be affordable. Recognize that merit aid is unlikely as a transfer student.
