I messed up my first year at a cc, left it and started over at another cc without telling them that I attended before. I am doing great at my current school and even made dean's list. I will be applying to transfer to a university soon and don't want to mention my first cc.

Has anyone done this before and gotten away with it?

Do universities really check to see every school you've been to?

Is it better to be honest, BUT highly increase my risk of not getting in?

I can't be 100% positive about this, but I would imagine that they won't check to see every school that you've ever been to - they simply don't have the time or the resources. The only place I can see you possibly having trouble is when accounting for that time in your life. If they see when you graduated high school and when you started at your current school, they might wonder what you did in the intervening time. If you tell them about your first cc, they will almost certainly see that you have changed since then, and that may even work in your favor, as they will see how much you have grown and matured. But in the end, it's your choice whether you want to tell them or not.
