Hi, I recently submitted my UT transcript and it showed that my rank was 2/394. However, the school counselor recently updated our transcripts (mid-year) and it shows my rank as 1/420. I have heard that UT gives some sort of tuition reduction to valedictorians. So, can I still send in another transcript showing my new rank, in order to get that reduction?

I am not really aware of the scholarships that UT offers fully, but if it is like you say, then I would see if you can't get it overnighted through your school. If you can get it there before 5 PM on Feb 1st, and this scholarship exists, then your good. I would send it ASAP and then call the UT admissions rep to double check. There is no harm in sending it regardless, if your applying for honors or something.

My daughter was val at her texas public highschool several years ago. Although she did not apply to any of the Texas public colleges, she was given the tuition voucher certificate at graduation that she could present to the texas public college of her choice as proof of her val status, thus giving her free tution the first year. As far as I know, it's not a scholarship per se, and it's not offered by UT. It's an automatic voucher that any val in texas can use for the first year of tuition at any of the public colleges. Your school should know something about this, so ask them, and/or call UT. hth:)

yeah, the valedictorian "scholarship" just vouches for one free year of tuition at any public school in texas, just to back up anxiousmom. :)
