Hi all.
So I have a dilemma. Or maybe it's not a dilemma. That's why I'm here, I guess. Haha.

Okay.
So I'm in Steinhardt, which offers orientation days in late June (27th or so, I think) and early July (7th-8th).
These are the days when we sign up for classes, take placement exams, etc.

Today I received my confirmation for my deposit, which included important dates. It said that transcripts are due July 1st and gave this warning:

"Our Final Report with final transcript (with proof of graduation) is due by July 1. The only students for whom extensions will be granted will be students who are attending schools outside the United States and who are enrolled in schools where transcripts will not be available until a later date. Please be advised, however, that you will not be allowed to move into an NYU residence hall or register for classes this fall until we have received your final transcript."

My school ends June 22nd.
Would I be able to attend the late June orientation and sign up for classes if my transcript hadn't arrived yet?
Or are they okay with the fact that it hasn't arrived? Will they not let me?
Thanks!

Based on my experience from assisting sonny in gathering documents to send to NYU, the school tends to be a little late with paperwork processing, especially when it comes to the end of year procedural paperwork. So, you should be able to submit the transcript when it is made available by your school (asap, of course).

I am fairly certain you can attend the late June orientation and still speak to your advisor then about your academic needs and what courses to sign up for the fall 2011 semester. You should just be prepared with info about the classes you took and grades received throughout high school and last semester senior year (though not yet on an official transcript). Based on this info, your NYU advisor can recommend classes for you. If data from your official transcript do not corroborate the info you provide to your advisor during the summer orientation session, they can always work with you to tweak your course registration.

Make sure you have copies of any AP exams scores with 4 or 5, as well as copy of transcript of any courses taken on the college level for consideration of credit by NYU.

Thank you so much!
So should I ask my school for an unofficial transcript or will they just take my word for it?

Hey! I was just wondering what date did you enroll and how long after did you start receiving information? I still have yet to receive info on such things like orientation. :T

thedraken,

It is a good idea to have a copy of your transcript with you, whether it is from accessing your own school account online or by getting an unofficial copy from your high school.

mandolova,

I responded to your question on your thread.
