So I have a bit of a dilemma: I’m currently applying to MIT as an undergrad and they ask that you’ve taken any college coursework in high school (which I have) that you send in the transcripts for that. I’m guessing the “Secondary school report” which the guidance counselor fills out does not ask them to submit these as it does for the highschool transcript (for that matter, DOES this form ask the counselor to submit a HS transcript? I think it does, but I’d like to know that too). Since MIT doesn’t appear to have an official electronic submission option for transcripts as many other colleges I’ve applied to do, I have two options:
-Send a paper copy to the MIT admissions office, which will be sent after the due date because the college I’m sending it from is closed for the holidays.
-Send an electronic copy to the generic “Contact Us” email for the MIT admissions office (admissions@mit.edu). It won’t be late but I’m unsure if they will accept it in this manner. Will this work?
Just to be safe I’m probably going to do both of these things anyway, but is there a better solution?
Hi! I’m a ‘20 adMIT, so (I guess) I know what I’m talking about, as I also took college courses in high school. My situation was a little more complicated, because my school didn’t accept the college courses until well past the application due date. When they did, however, I resent my high school transcript and my colleges’ transcripts to admissions@mit.edu. Basically I sent three separate PDF files. As I am a high school student, I don’t know if that’s what you are “supposed to do”, but they told me that they accepted it and bundled it with my files. (Alternatively, you can email admissions and ask them what you should do, and follow their instructions.) Good luck!
Okay thanks for that response. I would email admissions but the office is closed until after the due date due to the holidays, as is EVERY other office in the entire world, so I could only submit my transcript electronically. Nice to know that they accepted it through admissions@mit.edu for you though.
My homeschooled daughter applied, so I am familiar with the Secondary School Report side of things. It does ask the school to submit your transcript, along with a letter about you and the school profile document. In addition, there is a spot to submit one additional document. Your school counselor could use this to submit your college transcript if they have it.
Most schools are understanding if supporting documents come in late, as long as the student submits there portion on time. So if they only accept the transcript directly from the college, it probably isn’t a big deal if they don’t have it by today.
Where did they ask you that, I never saw it.
