Transcripts from Community College

Hello,

I took ACC courses at my local community college while in high school. When applying to colleges, do I need to send a transcript from the community college to every school I apply to?

Do I send them to the office of admissions?

Also, if I send the transcript now, and don't finish the application for another couple of weeks, is that bad? Will they keep everything on file?

I'm a little confused on how that whole process works.

Thanks
Nick

From the CA:

Yes, you have them sent to the Admissions office.

That’s fine, they’ll hold all materials until your file is complete.

Yes. you must submit them for all institutions where you have been enrolled.

The timeline all depends on where you are applying. For the UC schools in CA, for example, you don’t need to supply transcripts until after you are admitted. Other schools may want transcripts when you apply. For the latter, just send them in; as soon as they receive something with your name on it they will hold them in a file.

Are students expected by the colleges to have the community college grades transferred to their high school transcripts?

No statement can be absolute, there are bound to be exceptions, but I’d say generally the answer is no. Some HS will list classes you have taken elsewhere, some will include the grades as well, some list nothing. But since you’re going to send the transcripts from the CC’s you attended, the colleges will get the full picture no matter what.
