I recently graduated from my local community college with a 2.7 GPA. I’m transferring to another community college for the reason being that the program I want to study at the UC i want to attend is joined to this particular community college. So in order for me to go to the UC i first have to complete the program they have partnered with this other community college. I obviously don’t like the GPA i graduated with so i was wondering once i transfer to this other community college and complete my work there and then transfer to the four year wil they care about my transcript from the first college i attended? If your wondering why my GPA isn’t great and why i didn’t attend the other community college it was because i had no idea what i wanted to study and changed majors about 3 times and i didn’t know what i wanted to do so i graduated with a degree in music which is nothing related to the field Im now studying.
Is your first degree a transferable degree or a technical degree?
You should try and get academic renewal. Sometimes it’s called grade forgiveness. See if your old CCC has it and how to do it. That will erase some of the grades. You can also repeat any courses that are C- or lower at the new CCC. You need to get rid of some of those courses or you’ll struggle to get your GPA anywhere remotely passable. Also, maybe some of the courses are not UC transferable. If some do not transfer, don’t bother with those. The UCs don’t care and they won’t be factored into the GPA. Like violane said if they are technical or vocational in nature, they usually don’t transfer. And remedial courses don’t transfer.
And you don’t need an AA to transfer so don’t bother getting a second.
Violaine my degree is not transferable.
Ohm888 so what’s your saying is focus on the courses that will transfer and make sure the grades to those course are spot on?
