Transcripts From Previous Colleges

So I just got word that I have been accepted into Cal Poly Pomona. Obviously they now want transcripts from my previous institutions upon completion of this semester, standard procedure. But I did something really dumb and I left out a CC that I initially went to and took three classes at, receiving a B in one, a F in one and a W in another, remedial class. I figured all of this was meaningless sense I have since retaken all the classes at another CC where I passed them with decent grades.

Now I realize that I should have reported those grades and the school originally, do you think I should just send it in now, though I didn’t list these classes on my original app? I am kind of torn now.

Thanks for the help!

You need to contact them, explain that you didn’t list them because they were retaken, and ask if you need to send them. They will say yes – but at least it gets your excuse in front of them before they find out some other way. Which they could.

Okay, thanks for the help. Do you think they will rescind my acceptance?

There’s no way for us to predict. Send the apologetic note, and the official transcripts, and see what happens.

@steezefabreeze If they already accepted you, even provisionally, chances that they will rescind your acceptance are much smaller than if you were still pending. Unless those grades make a significant difference in terms of your total GPA, you should be good. Be honest, contact them and explain the situation. Stress the fact that you were not trying to hide anything. If you don’t notify them, and they ever find out (even years after your graduation), they have a legal right to revoke your degree.

@lenocturne So I called them and they told me to get all my transcripts and bring them in. He said he didn’t know what would happen, but he also advised me to write out a letter explaining the situation. I only took two classes there, so my GPA wouldn’t be greatly effected by it. I am just hoping it doesn’t screw me. I really would be devastated.

I also advised CSUF, another school I applied to, and they acted as if it wasn’t a big deal at all. They just told me to send it in with the other transcripts. But I am super nervous about getting rescinded from CPP.

@steezefabreeze Good! At least they did not outright reject you. Write them an apologetic letter, stress how terribly sorry you are, how CPP is your dream school, and how you hope that this little incident is not going to impact your admission status. It is hard, but try to stay positive. You did everything you could. It’s better to have a situation like this, than to be expelled or have your degree revoked years after the graduation without a prospect of getting another one. You should be proud of yourself! You did the right thing.
