We just got the dreaded email from Choate saying they did not receive transcripts from the previous two years. Our school has been contacted and the registrar has now sent the appropriate information. Since Choate is on gateway, my child has emailed the other gateway school she applied to asking if they have all the information required. Should she be proactive and also email the schools she applied to via SAO or should we wait to hear from them? I’m assuming if the school’s registrar didn’t get it right on gateway, she also didn’t get it right on SAO, but I also know admissions offices are pretty swamped with work right now!
This next month is the busy season for admissions. Sometimes it takes a few days for paperwork to arrive at the proper place. I would wait another week and then re-inquire politely.
@cityran the same thing happened to us with an email from Deerfield for the current year transcript. We sent it in and as a precaution sent the transcript to the other Gateway schools.
Thank you! This is actually a great idea. Since the registrar copied me on the email to Choate, including all of her past transcripts, I can have my daughter send those to the remaining schools. I was a nervous wreck when I saw the email. I know they say they don’t penalize applicants for this type of things, but I also don’t want her to be the kid who doesn’t have all of her stuff in on time!! Fingers now crossed until M10.
@cityran I would not stress at all about this. From all my communications with schools over the past couple of weeks, it seems like this period is meant for the final collection and tracking down of missing bits and pieces. We’ve had something missing at maybe half the schools where DD applied (even after submitting everything on time) — random stuff like missing test scores (despite on time submission) or a couple of missing recommendations that turned out to be actually found on file to an entire application being not submitted, despite being on SÃO for weeks. All of the issues have resolved with minimal headache (luckily I’ve stayed organized on my end so could track things quickly) and no school had indicated any sense of stress or problem. I think this is just part of the process and if you only had one school with one transcript problem then you are probably on the lucky side.
Still - I’m keeping track more closely of who says they have what, and who sends me a “complete” email, so that I can reach out in the next week of something appears to be missing. Most schools say to give them a couple of weeks to get things figured out so I figured this next week is the right one to reach out if I see any more yellow flags.
Agreed. Both my kids had problems with test scores at at least one school. Ssat site said they were sent. School said they hadn’t received them. It’s very common and took some time on the phone to get it resolved but neither of my kids were penalized for it.
