When you send in your application, I saw that you send a high school transcript with your upcoming senior courses listed on it (assuming you apply around August 1st when they begin accepting applications). Does Clemson get an updated transcript before the February decision time? Will they see the grades from the first semester of the senior year, or are they going by the grades from just freshman, sophomore, and junior years?
Thanks in advance.

you can send them an updated transcript if you want but it’s not required (if it’s to your advantage). I applied in November but told my high school to hold my transcript until after my midterm grades were up because my grades senior year were a huge improvement from my previous grades.

Helpful as always! Thanks Pierre!

you do have to send them a final transcript but that’s the same with every school

That final transcript I guess is basically to confirm to them that you did graduate, since you’ve already been accepted by that time, right?
The reason I ask is my son’s school has notoriously difficult classes senior year. One senior about to graduate tomorrow night had straight A’s since kindergarten, until this year when she made a B.
My son had excellent grades this year for his junior year, but we’re wondering how much he needs to push at the beginning of his senior year or if that would affect his potential acceptance.

yes, and to make sure you’re still keeping up the same level academically. Lots of high school students slack off after they get their college acceptances and end up with D’s and F’s…this can lead to a college revoking their acceptance.

How much does he need to push himself at the beginning of his senior year? The easy answer is to just do the best job he can…there shouldn’t be an incentive to even know that. Colleges will recognize if you are taking a tough course load.
