I have been offered an appointment and I’m wondering if I need to send in any additional high school transcripts. Well…to be honest, my main concern is whether the academy checks your grade after you’ve been offerend an appointment, because it’ll be important when I’m prioritizing. Thanks.

Yes, whether you are in highschool or college i know you have to send them a final transcript (i think before june 10th if i am correct...which im not always).

A D or F will most likely result in your appoinment being withdrawn - from 2005/6 catelog.

Of course they will check your grades. The USAFA wants an "official" copy of your first semester grades (fall 2005-January 2006) as soon as they become available. Your school's guidence counselor or equivelent needs to send them in.
By the way- Congratulations! on your Appointment!

Um... Didn't see it in the 05/06 catelogue. Also, those of you who had recieved an offer of appointment, did they send you any further instructions about sending in your transcripts, because I'm almost at the end of my 1st semester. Thanks y'all.

I found it. That quote, "continued progress academically, athletically and socially, your appointment may be withdrawn," was actually in the instruction to candidates boocklet. But I still havn't found anything about submitting your transcript.

It's in there, somewhere. In the Instructions to Candidates Booklet, it is a little more clear. Kinda near the back there is a section that tells you exactly what the criteria is for transcripts. It just says that if you fail a course, your offer of appointment will most likely be withdrawn. For college students, it says you must mantain a 2.0 with no grades below a C. A satisfactory transcript (second semester/second half of year for High School) must be recieved by something like June 10th. For college students who meet all appointment requirements but still haven't sent in a transcript, you recieve a "conditional appointment" which basically says that you need to send in a satisfactory transcript by a certain date and then the conditional will switch to normal appoinment. Hope that made it a little clearer.

I am a high school senior without any college/advanced degree and I am offered an appointment (don't think it's conditional). From the booklet, it's not clear to me wheter it applys to only conditional appointments or for me also. You guys have been a great help, by the way.

Hmmm. I can't seem to find a solid answer on exactly what to do with high school second semester transcripts. You could always call your admissions counselor for the hard and fast answer, though. If you do call, let me know what they say.

In the end, dont slack off. Just keep doing the hard work youve already been doing. Even in high school, as long as you dont get an Ds or Fs and avoid Cs if at all possible, dont worry.

I might get more B's than usual this semester (2-3), but nothing to drastic. I'm trying my best, tho. I called my admissions office today and left them a message. I'll get back to y'all after I find out.

I did worse this semester than I ever did in High school, but I guess I can chalk it up partially to the fact that I go to a recognizably difficult engineering school. Also, even though it was pretty difficult, I made sure that I safely met the criteria for the "satisfactory transcript".

Not significantly worrying about grades this semester is great. Life has vastly improved (I also got my hardest load of the year done first semester).

My consoler called and told me that all those who are offered appointments only need to send their final final (not mid year) transcripts to USAFA, including college ones if you attended them.

That saves me a call now. I was planning on only sending my final transcript from this year as well (after second semester) anyway but it's good to know for sure.

Solarmax200 - I just spoke with "Patty" and the admissions office at the USAFA. She confirmed that ALL candidates (with or without and Appointment) must have their school's officials send you seventh semester transcripts.

This is also in the Class of 2010 Instructions to Candidates booklet on page 4 (top right) "If you sent your transcript during the first semester of your senior year, you must ensure that your high school sends us a transcript with seventh semester grades as soon as they are available."
If you also applied to West Point, the candidate booklet has a "Business Replu Mail" card that a school official must complete.
I hope this help clear up everyones concern.
