transcriptsss for appeals

does anyone know if submitting a transcript along with your appeal is required? i do talk about my grades in my appeal, but it's more about how my circumstances did not allow me to focus solely on school (hence not so good grades) until second semester junior year, when i got my highest gpa. thanks!

they already have the pertinent parts of your transcript from your application – it doesn’t matter if you got your highest GPA if it was with a slew of non-UC-approved classes.

it wasn’t, all the classes i took junior year were uc approved and consisted of two ap’s and two honors.

then why bother including a duplicate of all the information they already have? if they read your appeal, it’s going to be with your original application considered as well.

it doesn’t hurt to try, but how long were your grades…not up to par? perhaps they might have overlooked some major accomplishment, perhaps it wasn’t enough? furthermore, did you write about your circumstances on your college app? i believe there was the open-ended question that allows you to write about anything that you’d “like them to know.”

did your circumstances handicap your gpa all 4 years of high school? if that is the case, i don’t know if one quarter of high gpa will compensate. if you tell some sob story, “my _____ was sick and dying,” I don’t think it will change much because they 1) have heard it all before (and it’s sad because they can’t determine which stories are real and which aren’t), and 2) if you didn’t show that your resilient or able to overcome obstacles, that’s not too good either… they DO show sympathy for improvement, trust me, i know.

remember, there were 40,000+ students that applied, and i’m sure many have had not so great circumstances to deal with too.
