Transer Chances @ Brown

hey i want to transfer to Brown after my frosh year, heres what im working with

-I’m currently at Pomona College (you might not of heard of it but its widely recognized as one of the top liberal arts schools in the country, and only like 2-5 kids transfer out of here a year)

-right now i have between a 3.7-3.8 here, probably what i’ll finish the semester with
-sat was 1380
-top 10% hs, finished with around a 3.8 if i remember correctly, comm service, nhs, all that good stuff
-i’m playing d3 varsity football, but wont play at brown

dont really want to ramble, but thats my basic resume, let me know if you’d need more info to make a better evaluation of me. i dont know if anyone can help me, like maybe someone who transferred into brown, but any input would be appreciated

thanks alot

Pomona's a great school, definitely recognized.

Your application sounds decent, but you'll have to find something that makes you stand out. You'll have to present a convincing argument for what you could bring to Brown and why it's a better place for you than Pomona.

FFLDSFinest, everyone that I have met loved Pomona, not to mention would kill to get into there if they weren't admitted. Why are you transferring?

yea i know thats kind of funny, i figured id love it here too from everything ive heard and i know a lot of people would die to go here, but i come from new england and i found that 1. its too small of a school, and 2. its too far away- i would liek to be within driving distance of home w/o going to a "lesser" school

Those are good reasons, but you're also going to have to convince the admissions people that Brown is a good "fit" for your personality and academic ambitions, not just because it's a good school closer to your home. I'm sure you've got lots of reasons, just make sure they come through in your application.

give pomona a chance! I love brown like crazy, so it of course pains me to say this, but pomona IS a great place, and transferrin 'aint easy
