I'm currently a first semester freshman in a college but I would really love to go to UMichigan Ann Arbor because I hear it has a good reputation for nursing. Is it hard to get in as a second semester freshman or a sophomore?
I am a mediocre student with very average/below average grades in HS and average SAT scores (pretty bad in my opinion). 1660/2400 SAT and 92 GPA. I think that's a 3.7.
What will I need to do to be a strong applicant for UMichigan?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you! :)

bump!
I’m very worried about whether I have a shot at this school. This has been my dream school for nursing.

So far, I have a 3.35 GPA but not many EC’s. Do I have any shot at all??

What can I do to stand out as an applicant???

You can transfer in as a Sophomore but you’ll have to take some classes during the Spring/Summer semester to “catch-up” with the freshman. That being said, I have heard it is difficult. Are you in state?

@nttrev16 No, I’m out of state I hear it’s a lot tougher for OOSers and they’re really stingy too. But I REALLY want to go their nursing school! What could I do to improve? In terms of nursing prereqs, I have Psychology, Principles of Organic Chem, Human Development and I’m going to take Human Anatomy and Physiology this fall. What can I do to improve and be a strong applicant?

I was OOS too. I emphasised my passion for nursing, my experience as a CNA, and I did well in my high school classes. Doing well in those pre-recs is a must. You could come to an information session at the School of Nursing and talk to the director of undergrad recruitment for nursing. I did that and then followed up with her when it came closer to the decision date and I don’t know if it helped but I got in!

I have mostly A’s and B’s in those pre-reqs. I’m worried about my extracurricular. I don’t have much since I spend literally all of my time studying :X
I’ve thought about going to an information session, but the cost is sort of a problem for me since I live in New York.
