transfer 09

if it says "a decision will be arriving in the mail" on my application status view decision, does that mean I was rejected? my completed application (1st semester grades) has only been there for a couple weeks...how could they arrive at a decision so quickly?

Nope, it doesn’t mean that you’re rejected. Most acceptances are usually posted online though. What’s ur college gpa?

3.67 at nyu A-, A-, A, B+ (by michigan recalculating of the grades it’s a 3.75)

same high school gpa, 1340/2110 SATs

I just don’t understand because NYU is a similar level school to mich…my gpa was high, and my app was only in for 3 weeks (since first semester grades came out in early january)- how could they reject me so fast?

Like I said, don’t jump into conclusions, wait for the letter to arrive and you’ll find out. One of the transfer applicants that I knew who got the same decision link like you did eventually found out that he’s admitted. Yeah NYU is roughly similar to UMich. Why did u decide to transfer then?

how many years ago was that?

idk ive always wanted to go to michigan…it’s my dream school, I guess.

I dont really remember but it should be less than 2 years ago.

so do you think that’s likely to be the case for me? or do you think I was most likely rejected?

Don’t worry you’ll most likely be admitted. Oh and I dont think Michigan offers Journalism as a major here, have you checked it out?

They offer english and such, I know that. And, I’m not set on journalism anyway…I wouldn’t mind going into education or psychology…I’m just more english/humanities minded than math-science oriented.

Thank you though for the encouragement and the help!

do you remember if your friend received an email? cause i haven’t.

nah I don’t think so. Btw are u in-state or OOS? Michigan plans on admitting more in-state sophomore transfer this year due to the Economic crisis.

['U' plans to admit more sophomore transfers in light of economy | The Michigan Daily]('U' plans to admit more sophomore transfers in light of economy)

out of state unfortunately…think that’ll have a big impact?

Not really sure… They’re still discussing things over, have u found out yet? has the letter arrived?

Tennis22, do you remember the date your transcript was received and the date you received the notification on Wolverine Access? Curious because I’m a prospective transfer as well and still waiting.

I haven’t gotten the letter yet (maybe i will today- i’m not sure)

And my application (basically meaning my 1st semester grades) have been in only since early to mid january. I saw the post on WA access this past saturday. So they decided within 3 weeks or so.

I just transfered to UMich for Fall 08 - that’s about the timeline that mine was sent out. i got my app in by mid september and my transcript for frosh year to them by sept 30th. a decision was on WA by October 16th.

But i had a friend say the decision was in the mail last year and he got in.

snwrider, have you participated on the new advising/mentoring thing they are doing for transfers? If so, how has that been working?

Yeah I think you got in tennis. I’d be reall surprised if you dont

thanks hockey i hope so. i still haven’t received a letter…hoping that means it’s a big envelope.
