hi i have just graduated from highschool with a 3.9 GPA 1640 on my SAT and have a lot of extra curriculam activities. Im going to Stony Brook but dream school has always been NYU/ Cornell but my parents have always underestimated me. I saw how some friends of mine got in and now i want to transfer. IS it a good idea? If yes what are the requirements for a frshamn transfer?

A solid A- cumulative college GPA.

It really depends on your GPA for your first year in college and your high school record.

But, having already gone through transfers very recently, and talked with counselors. I have found that having a solid GPA at your current college will definitely show the admissions board that you have succeeded in a college atmosphere. Most colleges require a minimum of either 28 or 30 credit hours (not counting AP credits) so make sure you send your fall and spring transcripts to your desired college. Some require none; just like your freshman application. Another requirement most colleges follow is having a GPA of either 2.5, but for NYU/Cornell I would imagine you want your GPA to be around a 3.5 range (I had a 3.4 and got into Vanderbilt so who knows!). Make sure you get recommendation letters from high school college counselor/college academic counselor & a professor or two.

If NYU/Cornell is your “dream school” then why not give it a try? You have nothing to lose except an application fee right? I say go ahead, a great idea. Also try to give your current school a try, you never know what you will find at any university. You might just be surprised!
