I was wondering if anyone has heard back from Rochester for Fall 2013 transfer?
I have submitted my application in January and I've been stuck in committee review for about a month now.

Same here with ya@ILikeEngineering, I’m thinking about sending email to the committee or counselor.

I received my decision letter today even though I’m still in committee review according to Rochester’s website.

I am getting anxious at this point.
It’s been 5 months since I submitted my application and my current school is ending in less than a week.
Combined with the fact that class of 2017 just checked in full, should I expect a negative decision?
And yes, I do realize I will not be part of class of 2017.

You should really try calling them.

I was accepted as a transfer student almost a month ago.

I got the decision letter today and I have been accepted to class of 2016. :)

Great. Congrats.

I gather they won’t have room on campus due to the higher admissions yield.

I received an admission letter from University of Rochester yesterday. It is my top choice school but it gives me only $5000 for the Phi Theta Kappa scholarship. Is there a possibility that I could appeal for more money? I am an international student BTW.

I got accepted to ChemE program in U of R, but I also got into Berkeley’s ChemE as a junior transfer. Would you guys choose U of R over Berkeley in terms of educational quality? I am sure I will go to top grad school in ChemE.

Please give me some advice. Thanks.

I would think “price” first. I don’t have any idea about the 2 programs, sorry, but if you’re sure you will get into a top grad school the main issue now is cost and where you want to be.

@Lergnom
Yeh. I’m really not sure about that at all.
On the UR webpage, they say all the sophomores and freshmen are expected to live on campus. Since I am a sophomore transfer, I think I might be able to live on campus. Not entirely sure at all tho.f

I think because of the extra large incoming class, transfers will be “assisted” to find off campus living. That’s actually cheaper. You might call admissions to ask about that.

Hi everyone!

I’m a transfer starting in the fall. I put in my enrollment online about a week ago and haven’t heard anything from them in terms of what to do for housing and all of that kind of stuff. Have any of you gotten any information since enrolling?

Hey fellow transfers!

Got my decision a few weeks ago. Happy to say I was accepted into the class of 2015!
Has anyone gotten any housing information yet? I know on campus housing is pretty cut throat for transfers.
See you all in the Fall! =)

Because of an unexpectedly large freshman class this year, transfers will not be offered on-campus housing. (Per the Dean of Admissions in a post on this site about a month ago.)

Transfers will need to find off-campus housing. The Housing Office has some listings, but you’'ll likely do better using Craig’s List or the local city newspaper.

I’d strongly suggest that you try to find a rental either close in to campus or on a bus/shuttle route since parking on campus is awful and expensive. (~$600/semester)

And from one westerner (where free, off-street parking is a god-given right ;)) to another, I’ll warn you Rochester is a typical, older eastern city–which means in many residential neighborhoods on-street parking is hard to come by and often has multiple restrictions. Also not all rental houses have garages and/or driveways.

Do you guys know if financial aid package will also cover the cost of off-campus housing?

And I’m excited to meet you guys in the fall.
Congratulations on your acceptance! :)

FA includes a room & board allowance for those in off campus housing. Since it appears from the FA website UR does not used a different allowance for students in off campus housing vs. students in on-campus housing (some schools do…), you will be allotted $13,128 toward your living expenses.

Please remember that your actual costs may be more or less than that. You will need to factor in 12 months rent on your lease, plus transportation to and from campus, plus utilities (if not included in your lease. Internet service is seldom included in paid utilities).

You are also required to take the commuter meal plan.
